From lawns to playgrounds and pet areas, Genesis turf systems are fully recyclable and promote environmental sustainability
Project Description
Residents of Beachwood, Ohio, are wagging their tails in approval of the new Barkwood Park, located at Beachwood City Park East. The new dog park is Ohio’s first of its kind with over 20,000 square feet of low-maintenance pet-friendly synthetic grass. Installed by the experts at GENESIS Northeast Ohio (link), the park provides the ideal place for pups to frolic and socialize with their owners and fellow canines. Separated into two spacious zones for safety, both large and small dogs alike can enjoy the park without muddy paws. So far, the new pet turf park certainly has a lot of tails wagging!
Low-Maintenance Artificial Turf from GENESIS is a Sustainable Winner
The Parks and Recreation department of Beachwood chose GENESIS’s products because they offered a sustainable and surprisingly green option for low-maintenance artificial turf. With no need for watering, fertilizing, or constant mowing, synthetic grass is already helpful to the environment. GENESIS products take sustainability a step further, thanks to a bio-based formula that substitutes up to 60% of the backing material with soybean-derived polyols. GENESIS’s pet grass was selected in part due to its ability to handle the heavy dog and human traffic while remaining easy to clean. For proper drainage, a limestone base was installed with a concrete border to keep edges neat and tidy. For additional safety, acrylic-coated Envirofill infill was selected as it retains less heat than similar rubber crumb options.
